Happy that he made it to the gym this morning at 5:30.

As I start a new phase in life I will be able to blog more about what I am up to and things that are important to me. Right now life is very hectic. I will leave you with this thought.

What if the church followed the principles in the bible in the way of governing and doing business. What if the church were to no longer utilize the not for profit status and go into the great wide world as a for profit business?

An interesting quote that I found on a website. This quote shows that Thomas Jefferson was wise beyond his years. I wonder what he would think if he was alive today.

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. – Thomas Jefferson

Use what talent you posess: the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those that sang the best. – Henry Van Dyke

I found this quote in a email that I subscribe to, it makes you think about what are your ture motives are they pure? Are they selfish?

Power always thinks it has a great soul and vast views
beyond the comprehension of the weak; and that it is
doing God’s service when it is violating all his laws.
–President John Adams

How does power make you feel? A Pastor friend of mine once said, True power is having the ability to destroy and yet not destroying. What do you think?

A friend of mine who is a realtor had this quote at the bottom of an email she sent to me, I really like it, it hit home to me this time of the year.

“At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” — Albert Schweitzer

I don’t think I need to say any more, as I would only detract from the meaning of this quote.

The policy of the American Government is to leave their citizens free, neither restraining nor aiding them in their pursuits. ~ Thomas Jefferson

Jefferson served as a delegate to the Second Continental Congress beginning in June 1775, soon after the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War. When Congress began considering a resolution of independence in June 1776, Jefferson was appointed to a five-man committee to prepare a declaration to accompany the resolution. The committee selected Jefferson to write the first draft probably because of his reputation as a writer. The assignment was considered routine; no one at the time thought that it was a major responsibility.[11] Jefferson completed a draft in consultation with other committee members, drawing on his own proposed draft of the Virginia Constitution, George Mason’s draft of the Virginia Declaration of Rights, and other sources.

I think that quote might have some merit as the man who stated it was part of teh group that drafted the documents and guidelines that this country has based it’s existence upon.

I got this great quote from a friend of mine, I thought it was a great quote to live by and my friend thought that it would be an appropriate quote to give to our next president.

“What is morally wrong can never be politically right.” ~ Lord Shaftesbury

In this entire political storm of he said she said, he’s a commie, he’s a right wing-nut; I have noticed a couple of things. Only in America does an individual spend Multi-Millions to get a job that only pays $400,000 a year for four years.

Also I look at the current campaigns and see that these people have no problems raising multi-millions of dollars for ad campaigns. Notice once they get into office they don’t do anything productive like that to raise money to help the people that they promised to help when they got into office. Instead they want to force people to help by increased taxing.

The positive spin that I would like to point out came from an email I received from Despair.com, in their email announcement they called this a “climate of heightening economic uncertainty and poisonous political discourse.” Why do I like that? The perspective is right on:

Why??

In this part of the year everyone is pointing out how if the other party gets the job then it is the end of the world as we know it and each “side” is saying how the other side is responsible for this “crisis”, I like other optimistic people don’t believe there is a “crisis” yes there is turmoil yes there is uncertainty. The above quote does well to describe that and still remain neutral.

To leave you with a more positive point, remember, it is the job of the news media to propagate fear, not hope. Need I mention scary phrases like “The Cold War”, “Y2K”, Avian Flu, etc…
There is hope, hope is tomorrow will be another day, make the most of it, remember the most important thing is love one another.

Thank you for reading to my rant today.

“Upon this point all speculative politicians will agree, that the happiness of society is the end of government, as all divines and moral philosophers will agree that the happiness of the individual is the end of man. From this principle it will follow, that the form of government which communicates ease, comfort, security, or, in one word, happiness, to the greatest number of persons, and in the greatest degree, is the best”

Can you identify the person who is making this statement. Also think about what this means to you. Who’s role is it to ensure that you are happy. Why is it so important for people to be happy and why does this seem to always be the case when defining “moral” issues?

I can’t ever think of a time where I have wanted to rely on someone other than myself for my sense of hapiness. To me that seem to be counter productive. Not only that but doesn’t that seem to make you by definition dysfunctional?

Just my random musings for today…

Hope this makes you think for yourself.
